Kitchen Remodel on Your New House TV Show

DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen by Worldwide, Mr. Rooter and Mr. Electric can really cook when it comes to kitchen remodeling. That’s exactly what these three franchise companies did for one Dallas home, which will be featured on Michael Holigan’s nationally syndicated television show Your New House.

Viewers are going to see a dramatic transformation, said Doug Dwyer, president of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen. According to Dwyer, the tiny kitchen was a space lacking storage, not to mention style. The age of the home also meant salvaging the room from its dated plumbing, wiring and ventilation designs.

DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen’s Dallas franchise, which was the general contractor on the job, saw this as a prime opportunity to invite sister franchise companies to help on the project. Bill Taylor, of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen; Stephania Alexander, of Mr. Rooter; and Tom Forisha, of Mr. Electric; are the franchise owners in the Dallas area who will be featured on the show. All of the franchise brands are affiliated with The Dwyer Group, which offers a multitude of home services and repairs from its various subsidiaries.

The different services offered by DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen, Mr. Rooter and Mr. Electric really complimented one another on this project, said Holigan, host of the show. Their different areas of expertise were valuable in updating an old kitchen into an attractive and functional room.

Your New House will feature the kitchen remodel over five episodes and will highlight how the franchises worked together. Among the obstacles of this old kitchen, the remodel required:

· relocating the water heater to the attic to make room for a kitchen pantry;

· moving an old fuse junction box and bringing the kitchen’s electrical wiring up to code;

· replacing old cast iron and galvanized plumbing with current PVC drain lines and copper supply lines;

· adding a range hood where none previously existed to properly ventilate the room, and more.

The aesthetics of new cabinets, granite countertops, wood flooring, shiny appliances, and new windows are a crowning achievement on the Dallas kitchen. But the dramatic visible changes also hide a multitude of work that was done by DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen, Mr. Rooter and Mr. Electric beneath the surface.

This project is a defining statement that good remodeling is more than skin deep, Dwyer said. Viewers will be able to see the cosmetic changes as well as the structural demands of this job. And the transformation will be exceptional.

Your New House is a nationally syndicated television show in its eighth season, reaching more than 85 percent of US households. Visit www.michaelholigan.com to find participating stations.
