Henckels Knifes and Share Our Strength Partner to Slice Away Hunger
Share Our Strength announced that Zwilling J.A. Henckels, the global market leader in cutlery, has exceeded its initial financial commitment to the organization by over 500% percent, raising more than $100,000 in the first phase of its cause-related marketing campaign. In July, J.A. Henckels introduced an eight-piece Share Our Strength branded steak knife set, with $5 from every purchase supporting the organization, to raise critical dollars and awareness for the non-profit’s efforts to end hunger.
J.A. Henckels had been interested in supporting Share Our Strength on a national level for some time and we commend their commitment to this progressive marketing campaign, said Catherine Townsend, Associate Director of Share Our Strength. This cause-marketing initiative allows J.A. Henckels, their retail partners and their customers to be involved in a win-win effort to fight hunger. We applaud Henckels and our other housewares industry partners, like Chef’s Catalog, who believe that hunger is an important issue, as well as relevant to their business, and are uniquely positioned to make a difference.
The Henckels set was available in most specialty stores, upscale department stores, and upscale mail order and on-line outlets. This knife set proved to be extremely popular, said Howard Ammerman, Vice President of Sales from Henckels. We actually had a difficult time keeping up with demand.
The promotion, scheduled to run for the remainder of 2002, is a solid example of Share Our Strength’s success with cause related marketing ventures. One of Share Our Strength’s core philosophies, that doing good and doing well is good business, has made the organization one of the most entrepreneurial nonprofit organization with a proven track record for creating innovative corporate partnerships and cause-related partnership initiatives.
Share Our Strength, one of the nation\'s leading anti-hunger, anti-poverty organizations, meets immediate demands for food while investing in long-term solutions to end hunger and poverty. Share Our Strength meets its goals by mobilizing individuals and industries to contribute their talents to the fight against hunger and creates community wealth to promote lasting change.
