Tableware giant and famous artist renew a partnership to put Engelbreit's
Sakura, Inc., a division of Oneida, Ltd., and St. Louis-based art licensor Mary Engelbreit Studios, Inc. signed a three-year contract to collaborate on creative tableware for distribution beginning in 2003. Sakura, a pioneer in casual tabletop known for fashionable, trend-setting designs, will draw on a wealth of Engelbreit’s bold, colorful artwork to produce dinnerware, dinnerware accessories, beverageware and related products.
Reviving this license is an incredible opportunity for both of our companies, said Jeffrey Grinspan, director of licensing for Sakura. We wholeheartedly welcome back the Mary Engelbreit brand, which has grown by leaps and bounds since our first licensing agreement eight years ago. Mary’s art is so rich and detailed – it’s a natural fit and a huge wellspring of opportunity for creating bold and beautiful new tabletop designs.
This is a reunion worth celebrating, especially as it reminds us how much we’ve grown as a brand, said Greg Hoffmann, CEO of the Mary Engelbreit companies. As our distribution strategies begin to change with the market for this class of product, we think it’s a perfect time to renew our relationship with Sakura, and we look forward to a really dynamic, creative partnership.
