The Enterprising Kitchen Now Offers Choices

The Enterprising Kitchen has aptly branded its line of specialty soaps and bath salts Choices. Both customers and the women employees at The Enterprising Kitchen are being shown how to make wiser choices. Not only does the nonprofit business offer an array of offerings for socially-conscious shoppers, but the women who handcraft the soaps are simultaneously making better choices to improve their lives and work skills.

Within the context of a small business that produces high quality soaps and bath salts under the new brand name Choices, women receive hands-on assistance that includes paid employment, job and life skills training and a variety of other individualized support services as they learn to make sound choices in their own lives. The Enterprising Kitchen is a unique nonprofit business created to provide transitional employment to low-income women in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood as they work toward self-sufficiency and independence.

Consumers have a choice in how to spend their dollars and purchasing products from The Enterprising Kitchen is one way shoppers can buy gifts that give back to the community. Their choice to support a socially conscious business propels the Kitchen’s efforts to provide more opportunities for women; one hundred percent of the profits benefit workforce development for women employees.

The Choices line of soaps and bath salts includes unique recipes created to give a deliciously scented, long-lasting natural product that lathers beautifully and leaves skin feeling soft and healthy. Soaps are available in various scents—such as Honey Oatmeal, Peppermint Swirl, Sweet Lavender and Orange Blossom—as individual bars, three, four and five-bar assortments and gift boxes.

In addition to cold-process and glycerin soaps, The Enterprising Kitchen also features liquid soap and bath salts. The Enterprising Kitchen continues to develop new products—the newest addition being liquid hand and body soap. Each small batch of soap is hand-stirred and hand-packaged by the women employees, and each product bears the signature of the woman who packaged it.
